EgoI guess one thing that needs addressing is the concept of ego. I was recently accused of having an ego, and me sending my link to people may seem self-absorbed. You may think I'm an egotistical, self-righteous, intolerant, anti-social, uncaring, loudmouthed, ignorant, ugly bastard. And I couldn't care less. I don't respect everyone's opinion by default. Respect is earned. Also, I know who I am, and who you think I am means nothing. I don't think you really know who you are.
Everyone has serious self-esteem and self-confidence issues because there is too much paranoia about having an ego. Ego is bad, sure, but if you think you're totally awesome, thats good. In fact, it's beneficial to think of yourself as the second coming of christ. Before you can believe in anything else, you have to believe in yourself. You're the messiah and nobody is going to tell you otherwise. And this works out just fine. See, the one that would save us all doesn't need to go around and telling people how fucking cool he is. He doesn't have anything to prove to anyone - he kicks ass by default. Therefore, no ego. If you look for outside sources to validate yourself as a person, have fun with that. There are only a million poor souls out there just begging for some recognition and compliments. It's what everybody wants but nobody seems to give.
But you shouldn't need that shit anyways. If your life is totally messed up and nobody likes you, then you fit into the christ role even better. I'd say that someone that was crucified was a long way from winning any popularity contests. And it's not like Jesus cared if anybody said he looked fat in that outfit.
If you think of yourself as anything less than the best thing since sliced bread and bottlecaps, then you will remain just that.
