Tolerance and Political Correctness

I'm the most tolerant man on the planet. I know those in several faculties would disagree with me, but screw them. I have a high tolerance for many things, anything from alcohol, to incoherence, to ineptitude and incompetence. Four things which fortunately often occur in the described sequence, creating rather humourous results.

I'm an insanely tolerant person simply because I'm too lazy to be angry. One definition of tolerance : a disposition to allow freedom of choice and behavior [syn: permissiveness] . Tolerance doesn't mean you actually have to like or endorse anything. Tolerance is also a load of garbage. For instance, the following should be tolerated:

• Different cultures
• Different opinions
• Different flavours of Slurpees

However, the following never should be tolerated:

• Extremism
• Mismanagement
• Diet-Pepsi

So maybe tolerance isn't all that and a pack of rice cakes. What I find odd is the number of people advocating tolerance, that have no tolerance themselves of the people they deem to be intolerant. In short, think twice before tolerating anything, otherwise who knows what kind of bullshit people will get away with.

And another thing that sorta bugs me is being "PC", being "politically correct" as if you cant say anything publicly that might piss anybody off. If you've successfully said something that didnt offend anybody, that means you're on neither side of the debate and should get out of the ring. I'm not saying you should be looking to make people mad; its just that living life like you might spoil someone's cereal is quite tedious. Not only that, but your tombstone inscription would be quite uneventful and uninteresting. Here lies Joe / Jane Doe - Was very politically correct, nobody noticed. On my grave, whether I receive a shower of roses or urine, I will know I managed to elicit a response out of someone. Even though I may die on the wrong side of the argument, I would have had a part to play.
